Carina Lawrence (nee: Nash)
My dear cousins, Dale, Arletta and Carol (and family); At this time my mind has gone back to where I was last year when JoAnn passed. I was in Iqualuit, Baffin Island. I was there to come full journey in my 35 yr. teaching life (as i retired) by returning to where I started my profession. The sky was clear and the stars were seen by the millions. I walked out onto the pack ice and observed the silence. I remember many emotions and memories going through my mind. I was there with my sister-in-law. She was speaking at a national convention on suicide, mental health and prevention. We flew into Iqualuit Oct 24. I stepped on that pack ice Oct 24. I felt great emotions and spiritual connections. Learning about many youth that have passed before us. My heart was heavy. Then to learn of JoAnn...... Life brings us great joy (teaching and guiding those to a firmer grounding while on Earth.) And life brings us great pain (all the love and teachings we bring can sometimes not save those we love). The feelings of pain are present as October 24 approaches. This is because I have great love for my dear cousins. I miss the fact that we have distance between us and years of not being face to face BUT I love you all. I think of you all and miss JoAnn. It brings me comfort knowing all of her sisters and her brother were near in spirit and heart always. Hope is not just a word. It is an action and you were all active in giving JoAnn hope. On her "Birthday" I will do as my mother (Aunt Inez) and father (Uncle Peter) always did.... Light a candle for the one that has passed before us. Wishing you all love, laughter, pride and peace on this day of very mixed emotions. I love you all. Carina

Johnston and Flannery Family, We are deeply sadden to hear of Joann's passing! We have fond memories of Joann back in our school age years. She was indeed full of wit, so much fun to be with, lots of laughter and spunk. A friend to everyone! We did not know of her passing, saw it to late on Facebbook page or we certainly would have been to the services. Your forever friends, Dick & Sharon
