FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Roy Sturgeon, 64, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 7, 2024 at his Fort Fairfield home, after a period of declining health. He was born September 25, 1959 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Herman and Gladys (Caron) Sturgeon.

Roy attended Fort Fairfield schools and had been employed in the potato industry for several area farmers and also worked for McCain Foods, Easton as a mechanic for a number of years. He also performed welding and mechanic work out of his home for many years. Roy had been a member of the Fort Fairfield ATV Club and the Fort Fairfield Rifle and Pistol Club. He greatly enjoyed classic cars and tractors.

In addition to his parents, Roy was predeceased by his former wife and friend, Melody (Churchill) Sturgeon; four sisters, Shirley Tardy, Mae Lawrence, Doreen MacDougal and Pauline MacDougal. He is survived by one son, Benjamin Sturgeon of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Linda Sturgeon and her fiancé James St. Peter of Caribou; one granddaughter, Olivia Jamieson of Limestone; one sister, Arlene MacDougal of Fort Fairfield; Roy also leaves behind several nieces and nephews; a close friend, Wade Butler of Fort Fairfield; and Roy’s Golden Lab “Pooch”.

Friends may call Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Graveside services will be conducted at a later date and time to be announced. Those who wish may contribute in Roy’s memory to the Central Humane Society, 24 Cross Street, Presque Isle, Maine 04769.
