Mary E. Giberson (Shaw)
MARY E. (SHAW) GIBERSON
PRESQUE ISLE & FORT FAIRFIELD

Presque Isle & Fort Fairfield – Mary E. (Shaw) Giberson, 87, wife of the late Alfred C. Giberson, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Friday evening, January 19, 2024 at the Aroostook House of Comfort, Presque Isle. She was born June 7, 1936 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Joseph C. and Mary M. “Dolly” (Boulier) Shaw.

Mary was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1955, and was married to Alfred C. Giberson on December 17, 1955. She had been employed by the Turner Memorial Library, Presque Isle as a librarian for twenty years, and also worked at the Aroostook Centre Mall Information Desk for several years. Also, Mary babysat in her home for several area families over the years.

Mary held her family dearest to her heart, beginning with her children, Steven and Jeannie, and extending to her grandchildren, whom she spoke of as often as she could to anyone who would listen, whether it was during one of her walks in the mall or on a plane to the West Coast. As a grandmother, she knew just how to make you feel incredibly loved. Her love extended to her siblings, nieces and nephews as well, whose life events she attended without fail. The fullness of her love for family was evidenced by all the photos displayed on her refrigerator door. It was as if her refrigerator door served as a time capsule and emulated all the life events of those she loved, from school graduations to weddings and everything in-between.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Alfred on April 28, 2019; two brothers, infant Joseph Ernest Shaw, and Richard “Dick” Shaw; three sisters, Judith “Judy” Foster, Christine Merrithew, and Joyce Milbury. She is survived by one son, Steven Giberson and his wife Renee` of Topsham; one daughter, Jeannie Giberson and her husband Cliff Young of North Yarmouth; one brother, Robert “Bob” Shaw and his wife Jill of Caribou; two sisters, Carolyn Adams and her husband Floyd of Westbrook, Alice McCarthy of Bristol, CT; a sister-in-law, Marilla (Giberson) Cushman and her husband George of Springfield, VA; three grandchildren, Ashley Giberson and her partner Randy Hinkley, Joseph Giberson, all of Richmond, Molly Young and her husband Sean McCarthy of North Yarmouth; one great grandchild, Aubrey Swift of Richmond; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Aroostook House of Comfort for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Mary and her family during her stay.
