Fort Fairfield & Easton – Cheryl A. York, 53, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, November 21, 2023 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. She was born March 24, 1970 in Providence, RI, the daughter of Wilmer H. and Sarah (Francis) York.

She attended Fort Fairfield schools, had attended the Fort Fairfield United Pentecostal Church, and served as Vice Chief and later Chief of the Aroostook Band of Micmacs. Cheryl also worked at the Little Feathers Day Care, Presque Isle. Cheryl loved animals and had nursed many back to health. She also loved to help people and her door was always open to anyone in need. She especially loved her family, and they will always remember her as a wonderful and caring daughter, sister, mother and grandmother.

She was predeceased by her father, Wilmer H. York; one sister, Sherry York. She is survived by her mother, Sarah Archer and her husband Merle of Presque Isle; her companion of many years, Eric Brigman of Easton; one son, Michael A. York of Caribou; two daughters, Cherrika Brigman of Easton, Kara Brigman of Presque Isle; three brothers, Mark N. York, Dana D. York and his wife Amanda, Blake York, all of Fort Fairfield; two sisters, Kathy M. York, Sarah DeWitt and her husband Troy, all of Presque Isle; seven grandchildren, Zachary, Eli and Evelyn York, Layne and Emma Beaton, Bently and Mia Holmes; several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to visit with the family Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, where a prayer service will be conducted by Rev. Ronald Doughty. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Cheryl to the charity or organization of one’s choice.
