WILLIAM J. AYOOB
FORT KENT & FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Kent & Fort Fairfield - William J. "Bill" Ayoob, 91, passed away on October 28, 2023. Born to Louis and Mary (George) Ayoob in Fort Fairfield, Maine.

Bill was a Fort Fairfield High School and St. Michael's College graduate. He served honorably in the United States Army. An entrepreneur, Bill owned and operated Ayoob's Market in Fort Fairfield from 1959 to 1967. He later served as town manager in Greenville, Winslow, and Millinocket. A devout Catholic, he was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and a Sub Deacon at Saint Joseph's Maronite Church, Waterville. Upon retiring, Bill and his wife, Diane Voisine Ayoob, settled in Fort Kent, joining Saint Louis Catholic Church. Bill, proud of his Lebanese heritage, enjoyed the tranquility of Big Machias Lake and the company of friends.

Bill leaves behind his loving wife, Diane; children Robert (Gail), John (Marianne), Mary (Dwane), and Mark (Gabriella); seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his dear sister’s three children; and extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, sister, and infant brother, his legacy of family, faith, and community service endures. Bill will be dearly remembered.

Bill’s children want to acknowledge his wife, Diane, who loved and cared for their father during their marriage. We are thankful for her devotion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at a later date at the St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Interment will take place a the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, and will be announced by the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Bill to the Maine Veterans Home, 163 Van Buren Road, Suite 2, Caribou, Maine 04736.
