Fort Fairfield – Hope “Janice” Doughty, 83, wife of the late Floyd Doughty, passed away Saturday afternoon October 28, 2023 at the Aroostook House of Comfort, Presque Isle, surrounded by her family. She was born August 3, 1940 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Raymond and Geraldine (Miller) Wasson.

Janice attended Fort Fairfield schools and was married to Floyd Doughty on October 9, 1959. She had been employed by the A. & P. Processing Plant, later Interstate Foods, Fort Fairfield for many years and was a member of the Fort Fairfield United Pentecostal Church. Janice was a member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187 Ladies Auxiliary, Fort Fairfield. She enjoyed her church and church family, karaoke, and walking, however her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Janice was predeceased by one son, David Floyd Doughty on September 29, 1993; her husband, Floyd Doughty on December 11, 2000; one son-in-law, Gregory A. Fox; two brothers, Roy and Raymond Wasson; four brothers-in-law, Laurell “Ted” Doody, Ronald Ruest, Roland Drost, and Peter Michaud. She is survived by three daughters, Debra Fox of Fort Fairfield, Donna Fournier and her husband Murray of Tinker, New Brunswick, Deanna Plant and her husband Randall of Perth-Andover, New Brunswick; three brothers, Charles “Spurgie” Wasson of Paradise Valley, AZ, Ricky Wasson and his wife Mary-Ann of Caribou, Randy Wasson and his wife Wendy of Jacksonville, FL; four sisters, Shirley Drost of Presque Isle, Joyce Doody of Fort Fairfield, Brenda Ruest of Caribou, and Carolyn Michaud of Bangor. She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Gina Doughty of Auburn; a sister-in-law, Judy Wasson of New Hampshire; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield with Rev. Ronald Doughty officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield following the interment. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Doughty to the Fort Fairfield United Pentecostal Church, 33 Currier Road, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742 or the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Hone and Cremation service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
