LIMESTONE

Limestone – Shirley H. Kniese, 85, wife of the late Charles A. Kniese, passed away Tuesday morning, November 3, 2020 at a Van Buren nursing facility, following a brief illness. She was born January 19, 1935 in Wycombe, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Rudy K. and Dorothy (Coleman) Harry.

Shirley was a graduate of the Doylestown High School and was married to Charles A. Kniese on February 22, 1953. Shirley had been employed as a telephone operator in Colorado during the 1950’s and 1960’s and later worked as a florist for over 20 years in Plattsburg, NY.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband Charles on July 28, 2001; one son, Charles Rudy Kniese; one sister, Betty Mohr. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Margaret L. and Edward Spence of Fort Fairfield; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Charles R. (Nancy) Kniese of Parker, CO; one brother and sister-in-law, Guy and Deborah Harry of Doylestown, PA; one sister, Joan Comly of Quakertown, PA; two grandchildren, Heidi Spence and her companion Justin Dash of Claremore, OK, Edward Spence II of Las Cruces, NM; one step-granddaughter, Nanette Thiel of Colorado; three great grandchildren, Chyann, Charles and Karleena; two step great grandchildren, Brenda and Brittany; one step great great grandchild, Danielle; numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted Friday, November 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Green Ridge Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in Shirley’s memory to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross Street, Presque Isle, Maine 04769 or to the Robert A. Frost Memorial Library, 42 Main Street, Limestone, Maine 04750. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
