Limestone – Charles G. Hillier, 84, husband of Eileen M. (Bear) Hillier, passed away Friday afternoon, March 11, 2022 at the Aroostook House of Comfort, Presque Isle, following an extended illness. He was born July 8, 1937 in De Lamere, North Dakota, the son of Ben G. and Fedelia (Campbell) Hillier.

He was a graduate of the Hankison, ND High School, Class of 1955, and went on to serve his country with the United States Air Force from May 30, 1955 to May 31, 1975, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. Following his military career, Charles enrolled in the plumbing and heating program at Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, Presque Isle, graduating 1978. He worked as a heating technician at the Caribou Agway and later MPG, Presque Isle where he worked for several years. Charles retired in 2012 from Walmart in Presque Isle where he was well known to all as a greeter for 10 years. Charles was a communicant of Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone. He was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed fly-fishing, fly tying, and picking fiddleheads. Charles also enjoyed aviation and owned his own plane in North Dakota. He also loved vintage Volkswagons and built and maintained one of his own.

In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by one granddaughter, Sarah Hillier; one sister, Yvonne Slaby; and is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Eileen M. Hillier of Limestone; four sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Sandra Hillier of Tucson, AZ, Paul and Layal Hillier of Phoenix, AZ, David Jones of Portland, Daniel Jones of North Monmouth; one daughter, Martha Royer of Limestone; eleven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield where the funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.. Spring interment with military honors will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou.
