Caswell – Rainald A. Gervais Jr., 65, passed away Tuesday morning, December 15, 2020, surrounded by his two sons at a Bangor healthcare facility, following a courageous battle with Covid 19. He was born October 31, 1955 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Rainald A. Sr. and Athena (McLaughlin) Gervais.

Rainald was a graduate of the Limestone High School and continued his education at the University of Maine at Orono, earning a bachelors degree in business. He then chose to serve his country with the United States Air Force, and was deployed during Operation Desert Storm. He continued his service with the Maine Air National Guard and served overseas during the Iraq War. He enjoyed a long career as a dedicated civil servant at DFAS, Limestone for twenty-five years. Rainald was a kind, generous, and gentle man with an infectious laugh who bought smiles to everybody he met. He always preached about forgiveness and followed his belief through his entire life. He didn’t know a stranger and always had time for a conversation, always had room in his heart for a new friend or anyone in need, and was well known in his community. Rainald was a devoted catholic and an active communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood at both the Limestone and Caribou parishes. He also was an active member of the Limestone Knights of Columbus Charter No. 2851 where he proudly achieved the rank of Grand Knight.

He was predeceased by his parents, Athena and Rainald A. Gervais Sr.. He is survived by his two sons, Rainald A. Gervais III and his wife Bethany of Caribou, and their children Katelyn and Parker, Joseph Gervais and his wife Joanna of Stockholm, and their children Sage, Quinn and Jameson. He also leaves behind a brother, Daniel Gervais of Caswell; a sister, Greta Power of Presque Isle; two nieces, Nicole and Heather; two nephews, Trevor and Matthew; as well as grand nieces, Emily and Isabella; his stepmother, Sandra (Bubar) Gervais of Caribou and Frostproof, FL; stepsister, Lynn McDougal of Caribou and her companion Mark Nadeau.

Friends may call Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Please practice social distancing and be advised that face coverings are required and the amount of people in the building is limited. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone, followed by interment at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou during the spring/summer of 2021, and will be announced by the funeral home in the Bangor Daily News and the Aroostook Republican.
