LOUIS A. PEERS
LIMESTONE

Limestone – Louis A. Peers, 93, husband of June N. (Ketch) Peers, passed away Monday afternoon, August 10, 2020 at a Caribou healthcare facility, following a period of declining health. He was born August 13, 1926 in Poland, Maine, the son of John H. and Effie A. (O’Neal) Peers.

He attended school in Caswell and served his country during WWII with the United States Navy as radarman aboard the U.S.S. Fall River from January 1945 to July 1946, receiving the American Area Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Upon his discharge, Louis enlisted with the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1946 to 1950. He was married to June N. Ketch on November 11, 1952, and had been self-employed as a potato farmer in Limestone for several years, and later became employed as a grader operator with the U.S. Soil Conservation Department where he worked for ten years. Louis also worked seasonally for twenty-nine years at the Loring Air Force Base O.M.S. Department assisting with runway operations, retiring in 1988. Louis was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church and a life member of the Caribou VFW Lister Knowlton Post Number 9389. Louis enjoyed traveling in his RV, including two trips to Alaska and several down south, snow-mobiling, fishing, hunting and especially dancing.

In addition to his parents, Louis was predeceased by four brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Betty Peers, Abel and Mary Peers, Calvin and Amelia Peers, and John Peers; sisters and brothers-in-law, Amelita “Sis” and Perley Kennedy, Faye and Larry Michaud; brother-in-law, Erwin Bengtson, sister-in-law, Glenda Ketch. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, June N. Peers of Limestone; one sister, Peggy Bengtson of New Sweden; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alice Peers of Caswell, Luana Reitmeyer of Caribou, Hardie Ketch of Fort Fairfield and his special friend Ann Caldwell of Limestone, Duwain Ketch and his wife Bonnie of Burke VA, Hudson Ketch and his wife Jody of Anniston, AL, Margaret Ketch of Ellington, CT; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, August 14, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Peers Cemetery, Libby Road, Caswell with Rev. Meg Hegemann officiating.
