Presque Isle – Arnold R. Tardy, 84, husband of Lorraine D. (Coty) Tardy, passed away Saturday morning, December 7, 2019 at a Presque Isle hospice facility, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 25, 1935 in Presque Isle, the son of Fred and Jennie (Aaronson) Tardy.

He attended school in Presque Isle and served in the United States Army during the mid to late 1950’s, stationed in Missouri and France. He was married to Lorraine D. Coty on January 30, 1960 and was co-owner of V & T Concrete Forms and also drove a cement mixer for O & G Industries in Torrington, CT until his retirement in 1997. Arnold and Lorraine resided in Oakville, CT for several years prior to returning to Aroostook County in 2005. Arnold was an outstanding husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and was a wonderful role model to his children and grandchildren, instilling a high degree of ethics and morels onto them.

In addition to his parents, Arnold was predeceased by two sons-in-laws, David Ingraham and Gary Bessette; three brothers, Maynard, Maurice and Howard Tardy; three sisters, Eva Tardy Cowpertwaith, Alice Tardy Conley and Ruby Tardy Corbett. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Lorraine Tardy of Presque Isle; two daughters, Sonya Ingraham of Mars Hill, Deborah Carey and her husband Tom of Goshen, CT; one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Jean Tardy of Blaine; two sisters, Annette Tardy Conley of Wolcott, CT, Beatrice Tardy Thomas of Michigan; five grandchildren, Amanda Werner and her husband Kurt of Winsted, CT, Mitchell Bessette and his fiancé Brittany of Falmouth, MA, Drew Bessette of Portland, Randal Ingraham and his fiancé Jessica of Ashland, Hailey Ingraham of Mars Hill; four great grandchildren, Beau, Lilly, Julianna, Kacen; numerous nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Arnold’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Tardy to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
