LIMESTONE & FORT FAIRFIELD

Limestone & Fort Fairfield – Stephen S. Shaw, 67, husband of Carrie C. (Achorn) Shaw, passed away Tuesday evening, June 11, 2019 at a Bangor healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born February 23, 1952 in Caribou, the son of Bernard W. and Norma E. (Ward) Shaw.

He was a graduate of the Limestone High School, Class of 1970 and attended the Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, Presque Isle. He had been employed by Carroll’s Auto Sales and Slipp’s Auto Sales, and later farmed with his father Bernard in Limestone. He later worked for Page’s Irving Oil in Limestone and the Dead River Oil Company. Stephen was a past multi-term councilor with the Limestone Town Council. He enjoyed the outdoors, tinkering with his old tractor and farm equipment, and gardening. Stephen was married to Carrie C. Achorn on March 20, 2004.

He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife of 15 years, Carrie C. Shaw of Fort Fairfield; three sons, Samuel A. Shaw and his wife Ivy of Jacksonville, FL, Matthew Shaw of San Diego, CA, Stephen S. Shaw II of Hallowell; step-sons, Justin T. Kinney of Fort Fairfield, David E. Ferrier of Chattanooga, TN; step-daughters, Margo S. Ferrier of Fort Fairfield, Mallory S. Lagasse and her husband John of Perham; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Carson Nile of Pittsfield, Sara and Mike Hardy of Hermon; grandchildren, Dylan and Devon Shaw, both of San Diego, CA; step-grandchildren, Blake R. Soucy of Fort Fairfield, Hailey and Ryan Lagasse, both of Perham; niece, Emily Hardy of Hermon; and a special friend, David Edgecomb of Fort Fairfield.

A graveside service will be conducted Thursday June 20, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Green Ridge Cemetery, Caribou with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Shaw to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114. Envelopes will be available at the service.
