Fondest high school memory
It is with extraordinary sadness that I learned today of Mrs. Bubars passing. Rarely if ever do teachers truly know the lifelong impact they have on their students. I am sorry to say I dont think I made that clear to her. She stands, 28 or so years later, as one of my fondest memories of high school. She had a laugh that could fill the room. Or the entire auditorium! When I started at Limestone High School in 8th grade, I was quite introverted. It was Mrs. Bubar who stopped me in the hall one day and said You are going to try out for my one act play. Im not sure I even knew who she was, but she said she had kept an eye on me and I had stayed in my box long enough. Thus began my time in drama, where I did many plays with her, and she even made me a student director. Those were the single best times for me in high school. Be confident. Enunciate. Project. Prepare! Interestingly, it was much of her drama training that helped make me a successful trial lawyer. More than that, she could read emotions, know when you were down, empathize, but also make you get over it and get back up. She was kind, funny, and talented. She was, above all, a good person. Rest In Peace.
