Fort Fairfield – Mary A. Giberson, 80, passed away Wednesday morning, October 19, 2016 at a Mars Hill nursing facility. She was born November 17, 1935 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Willard D. and Dora L. (Corbin) Giberson.

She attended the Strickland Road one room schoolhouse and was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1955. She had served with the Sisters of Mercy Convent from 1956 to 1963 and had been employed by Data General in Westborough, MA for many years prior to her retirement in 1998. Following her retirement, Mary once again made Fort Fairfield her home and was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church and deeply loved her church and church family. She also enjoyed many harvest seasons after retirement, at Giberson Farms, Fort Fairfield. Mary will be remembered by all who knew her for her humor and generosity. Although she had no children of her own, she cherished her nieces and nephews as her own. She was also a member of the Fort Fairfield VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187 Ladies Auxiliary.

She was predeceased by her father, Willard D. Giberson; her mother, Dora Giberson Grivois; her step-father, Edgar Grivois; one bother, D. Albert Giberson; one niece, Diana Giberson Kleefeld; one nephew, H. Scott Giberson; two sisters-in-law, Diane (Thibeau) Giberson and Carolyn (Burns) Giberson; one brother-in-law, Frank White.

She is survived by two brothers, John Giberson, Howard Giberson and his companion Mary Whitmore, all of Fort Fairfield; two sisters, Louise White of Fort Fairfield, Norma Tardy and her husband Lyman “Butch” of Limestone; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Lisa and David Nichols of Levant, Cathy Cowette of Fort Fairfield, Aaron and Stacy Giberson, Mark and Janet Giberson, all of Fort Fairfield, Wendy and Chris Samaroo of Eddington, Frank White and his companion Helen LaPointe of Fort Fairfield, Laurie and Jim Glasser of Raleigh, NC, Karen and Frank Holcomb of Standish, Kim White of Presque Isle, Lynn White of Hiram, Marlene and Tom Roach of California Settlement, New Brunswick, Kevin and Cindy Tardy of Limestone, Eric Giberson of Fort Kent; several great nieces and great nephews; special cousins and their spouses, Alfred and Mary Giberson, Frank Thibodeau, all of Presque Isle, Marilla and George Cushman of Springfield, VA.

Friends may call Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at VFW Paul Lockhart Post # 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Mary’s family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff of the Aroostook Health Center, Mars Hill, for the wonderful care and companionship given to Mary during her stay.
