Obituary for Audrey A. Wortman (Holmes)


AUDREY HOLMES WORTMAN
FORT FAIRFIELD


Fort Fairfield – Audrey Holmes Wortman, 82, wife of the late Clarence J. Wortman, passed away Wednesday evening, December 3, 2014 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief illness. She was born July 24, 1932 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Allen and Doris (Wright) Holmes.

She attended school in Maplehurst, New Brunswick and was married to Clarence J. Wortman on June 16, 1949. She had been employed by Potato Service, Presque Isle for many years, enjoyed knitting and sports, most especially the Boston Celtics and Red Sox.

In addition to her parents, Audrey was predeceased by her husband Clarence on October 9, 2014; two sons, infant Robert Wortman and S.P.5 Malcolm Wortman; two daughters-in-law, Linda (Blair) Wortman and Gail (Helstrom) Wortman; three brothers, Leonard, Orin and Robert Holmes; one sister, Lucille Baker; one brother-in-law Floyd York. She is survived by two sons Mallory Wortman and Gailen “Wink” Wortman, both of Fort Fairfield; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Sam Tompkins of Tazewell, TN, Susan and Randy Cloney of Rock Hill, S.C.; two brothers, Bailey Holmes and his wife Anita of Fort Fairfield, Alden Holmes of Presque Isle, two sisters, Loretta York of Presque Isle, Carmen Hoyt of Auburn, NY; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering took place Sunday December 7, 2014 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Wortman Home, 88 South Caribou Road, Fort Fairfield. Interment will be held at a later date at Wharton Cemetery, Upper Kent, New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Audrey to the Carl Robert Dream Foundation, 304 North Caribou Road, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742.
