Fort Fairfield – Our beloved brother Michael L. Gallop, 59, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 26, 2022 at The Villages Regional Hospital, The Villages, Sumter County, Florida, following a brief illness, surrounded by his family. He was born January 19, 1963 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Lawrence H. and Rebecca P. (Cyr) Gallop.

Michael graduated from the Fort Fairfield High School in 1981. He was a jack-of-all-trades. Michael briefly had a career in the culinary arts, had a business transporting major newspapers to and from Miami. He later worked for a plant/tree nursery in Central Florida, and lastly Michael earned his National CDL Certification and went on to work for Lake Trucking Company, where his favorite route took him to Colorado weekly. Michael had an infectious smile, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, cooking, gardening, and would help anyone he met along his life’s journey. He was an amazing son, father, brother and husband.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Rebecca P. (Cyr) Gallop on June 5, 1990 and Lawrence H. Gallop on April 15, 2017. He is survived by his wife Amanda (Clark) Gallop of Leesburg, FL; two sons, Joshua M. Gallop of Presque Isle, Ethan J. Gallop of Leesburg, FL; former wife, Faith (Sorensen) Gallop of Presque Isle; seven sisters and brothers-in-law, Pamela and Ross Hubbard of Fort Fairfield, Dortha and David Grivois of Presque Isle, Debra and Doug Tutin of Eustis, FL, Karen and Craig Maynard of Dedham, Katherine and William “Larry” Hendry of Fruitland Park, FL, Valerie and David McDaniel of Arizonia, Lisa and Ricky Pelkey of Caribou; one brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Pat Gallop of Mars Hill; one uncle, Dale Cyr; one aunt, Jane Rogers; several nieces, nephews and friends. And to his long haul trucking family, “1024 Completed Last Assignment.”

A memorial service will be held in Florida in January 2023. A graveside service will be conducted at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
