Fort Fairfield – Sharon P. Butler, 72, wife of Mitchell J. Butler, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 9, 2022 at a Lincoln hospital. She was born March 17, 1950 in Bath, New Brunswick, the daughter of John and Beatrice (Cronk) McCarthy.

Sharon attended Grand Falls, New Brunswick schools and was married to Mitchell J. Butler on July 17, 1979. Sharon was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and greatly enjoyed camping at Birch Point, Eagle Lake, flower gardening and spending time with her family, most especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by one son, Ryan D. Butler; two brothers, Robert and Alexander McCarthy; one sister, Joan Weaver.

She is survived by her husband of forth-three years, Mitchell J. Butler of Fort Fairfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Adam J. and Archana Butler of Fort Fairfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Stephen Hardwick of Lincoln; five grandchildren, Samuel Butler, Avery Butler, both of Beldon, TX, John Butler and Gracie Belle Butler, both of Fort Fairfield, Aiden Hardwick of Lincoln; four brothers, Brian McCarthy and his wife Dorine of Chatham, NB, Gerrard McCarthy and his wife Joyce of Beaton, Ontario, Gerald McCarthy of Hamilton, Ontario, Richard McCarthy and his wife Jan of Peterborough, Ontario; five sisters, Margaret Tompkins and her husband James of Woodstock, NB, Jackie Street of Agincourt, Ontario, Marie Embelton of Presque Isle, Ruth Rivers and her husband David of Port Dover, Ontario, Sue McCarthy of Hamilton, Ontario; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will follow at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place at a later date at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Grand Falls, New Brunswick. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Sharon to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church.
