Fort Fairfield ā€“ M. Lorraine Flannery, wife of Gerald J. Flannery, passed away Thursday morning, March 24, 2022 at the Aroostook House of Comfort, Presque Isle, following an extended illness. She was born May 5, 1945 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Edward and LeAnne (Girard) Cote.

She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1964 and immediately following high school became employed by the Fort Fairfield School Department as a secretary, and later became secretary for the Guidance Department until her retirement in March 2011. Lorraine was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, and was married to Gerald J. Flannery on June 26, 1965. Lorraine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and visiting family and friends downstate. She also enjoyed gardening and her favorite flower was the carnation. She will be remembered as a wonderful and caring, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

In addition to her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by four brothers, Girard, Herman, Robert and Norman Cote; two sisters, Raymonde Chambers and Mary Jane Burns. She is survived by her husband of nearly fifty-seven years, Gerald J. Flannery of Fort Fairfield; one son, Dennis E. Flannery of Bath; one daughter, Linda M. Towle and her husband Everett of Othello, WA; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Shirley Cote of New Sweden; two sisters, Verla Ridley and her husband Kevin of Lisbon, Gloria Johnson and her husband Robert of Colorado; two grandchildren, Ethan Towle, Delaney Tucker and her husband Kolby, all of Washington State; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 28, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place later in the spring at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Flannery to the Edward and LeAnne Cote Family Scholarship, University of Maine Foundation, Two Alumni Place, Orono, Maine 04469.
