Obituary for Laurin F. "Bud" Finnemore Jr.

Laurin F. "Bud" Finnemore Jr.
LAURIN F. “BUD” FINNEMORE JR.
CASWELL

Caswell – Laurin F. “Bud” Finnemore Jr., 100, passed away Saturday morning, February 12, 2022 at a Caribou healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born September 26, 1921 in Caswell, the son of Laurin F. Sr. and Beatrice (O’Neal) Finnemore.

Bud attended Caswell and Limestone schools and was a lifelong member of the Caswell and Limestone United Methodist Churches. Bud enjoyed a lengthy and successful career as a potato farmer in Caswell from 1937 to 1980. Following his retirement, he became employed by Page’s Auto Parts in Limestone from 1981 to 1989.

Bud was the oldest and longest standing member of the Limestone Masonic Lodge No 214 A.F. & A.M., where he was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on April 9, 1946. Bud served his lodge in numerous capacities and held several offices including that of Worshipful Master in 1979. He was awarded the Seventy-five Year Service Pin on February 9, 2021 by the officers of the Limestone Lodge and was extremely proud of that accomplishment, and appreciated the “Fuss made over him”. Bud was also a member of the former Limestone Grange and was an avid outdoorsman.

He lived in the same home his entire life, which he kept improving and maintaining with his woodworking and carpentry talents. Bud was known as the expert in all things historical in the Caswell-Limestone areas. He possessed an acute ability to recall exact dates and details from many years ago. Bud thoroughly enjoyed his one-hundredth birthday. He had been offered the Boston Globe Cane, which he politely, but firmly declined. Bud touched the lives of countless people and will be fondly remembered by all.

He was predeceased by his father, Laurin F. Finnemore Sr. in 1921; his mother, Beatrice Finnemore in 2001; his sister, Letha V. Finnemore in 2016; two special uncles and longtime friends, Omar O’Neal and Floyd O’Neal; longtime friend, Lloyd McLaughlin; and his aunt, Wyona O’Neal. Bud leaves behind a large extended family, including cousins, Bob Finnemore and his wife Brenda of Cartersville, GA, Nancy L. McLaughlin of Fort Fairfield, Christine (O’Neal) Poitras and her husband Stephen of Fort Fairfield, Bonnie (O’Neal) Weakley and her husband Ernest of Amsterdam, NY, Alan O’Neal of Caswell; and longtime friend, Gene Beaulieu of Caswell.

In keeping with Bud’s wishes, a Masonic graveside ceremony, followed by a Celebration of his life will be conducted later in the spring at Advent Cemetery, Limestone, with Meg Hegemann officiating, at a date and time to be announced by the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Finnemore to the Limestone United Methodist Church, 2 Burleigh Street, Limestone, Maine 04750.
