Caribou & Fort Fairfield – Robert J. McDougal, 83, passed away Sunday January 16, 2022 at a Houlton healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born May 21, 1938 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Perley J. and Isabelle M. (Ouellette) McDougal.

Robert was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School and worked for a number of years at Hedrick’s Vending in Presque Isle and most recently had been employed as a custodian at the Sister Mary O’Donnell Homeless Shelter, Presque Isle. Robert enjoyed a simple life. He was a kind, caring, loving person who truly lived for his family.

In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by one brother, Perley D. McDougal. He is survived by four daughters, Michele Sullivan and her fiancé Ken Vincunas of Enfield, CT, Jeri Cocchi of Sarasota, FL, Corinna Capriati, Joey Swain, both of Springfield, MA; two sister and brother-in-law, Patricia A and Jim Mitchell of Illinois; Diana L. and Jim Lane of Massachusetts; one aunt, Leona; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special cousin, Kathy.

A graveside service will be conducted at a later date at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. McDougal to the Sister Mary O’Donnell Homeless Shelter, 745 Central Drive, Presque Isle, Maine 04769.
