Fort Fairfield –Col Lee Scott Fields Jr. (RET), 73, husband of Priscilla (Whited) Fields, passed away peacefully Friday morning, October 22, 2021 at his Fort Fairfield home, following an extended illness. He was born April 18, 1948 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Lee S. Sr. and Barbara (Nadeau) Fields.

Scott was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1966. He graduated from the University of Maine, Presque Isle with a bachelor’s degree and the University of Maine, Orono with a master’s degree in history. He worked with his father at the Roberts-Foss Insurance Agency in Fort Fairfield for 10 years. Scott enjoyed a long military career with both the Maine Army National Guard and the United States Army from 1967 to 1995. He held several positions, including Training Officer with the Maine National Guard 152nd Field Artillery, the 152nd Field Artillery Battalion Commander, Mobilization Officer with the Maine National Guard State Headquarters, Camp Keys, Augusta. Following his graduation in 1994 from the United States War College in Carlisle, PA, Scott became Personnel Director at Camp Keys for the entire Maine National Guard, and retired from that position. Scott was past president of the Fort Fairfield Rotary Club, a past member of the Fort Fairfield Public Library Board of Directors, a past member of the Fort Fairfield Housing Authority, a member of the former Frontier Masonic Lodge 112 AF & AM, Fort Fairfield, and was a member of the American Legion Walter Lovely Post No 27, Fort Fairfield.

Scott was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Priscilla W. Fields of Fort Fairfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lee Scott Fields III and Sharon Koziol-Fields of Vernon, CT, Stephen and Tammy Fields of Glenburn; one daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Dale Beaulieu of Fort Fairfield; one sister, Sharon F. Dorsey of Fort Fairfield; two grandchildren, Noah Fields and his wife Ariel (Roy) of Tolland, CT, Sarah Beaulieu of Fort Fairfield. He also leaves behind a special family friend whom Scott loved as his own, Hollie Haines Ouellette, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Scott’s wishes, services will be private. Interment will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Fields to the Fort Fairfield Public Library 339 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742.
