SYLVIA J. ABBOTT
ANAHEIM, CA & CARIBOU
Anaheim, CA & Caribou - Sylvia Jean Abbott, 86, of Anaheim, CA. passed away on Jan. 30, 2021 from complications related to Covid 19.
She was born in Caribou, Maine to Jim & Mabel Leavitt on July 5, 1934. She graduated from Caribou High School class of 1953. In 1957 she married Robert L. Abbott and relocated to Southern California.
She worked for the Telephone Company for a number of years as a switch board operator. She also worked in concessions at Angel Stadium for over 30 years and as an Instructional Assistant at Mel Gauer Elementary for 20 years.
Sylvia volunteered for many different organizations ranging from the Anaheim Police Department to the Veteran’s Center of Anaheim where she worked behind the scenes cooking and welcoming any military member who walked through its doors.
Sylvia is survived by her children, Donald and Richard Abbott, her daughter-in-law Shawna Abbott, her grandsons Jack, Owen, and Wyatt Abbott. Also surviving her are her sister Diana Demerchant, and brothers David Leavitt and Kerry Leavitt, nieces Kim Tuttle and Jasmine Armstrong, nephews Tim, Craig and Jim Brink, David Leavitt Jr., Michael & Christopher Demerchant and John Fowler.
She is pre-deceased by her parents and her sister Janice.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Webster Cemetery, Limestone, later in the spring.
