LIMESTONE

Limestone – Vernon A. Edgecomb, 94, husband of Wanda N. (Clifford) Edgecomb, passed away Thursday morning, December 17, 2020 at a Caribou nursing facility, following a period of declining health. He was born July 7, 1926 in Limestone, the son of Almond J. and Geneva (Levesque) Edgecomb.

He graduated from Limestone High School in 1945 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army from July 1945 to November 1946. Vernon married Wanda N. Clifford on December 29, 1947 and after purchasing the homestead farm (incorporated 1849) from his parents, embarked on a lifelong farming career. He was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion O’Bar Post No. 127, a member of the Limestone Jaycees, and a founding member of the Limestone Potato Growers. Vernon took great pride in the family farm and especially enjoyed snowmobiling, cars, spending his retirement years in Florida, and traveling to see family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Vernon was predeceased by five brothers, Almond “AJ”, Beecher, Richard, Irving, and Clayton Edgecomb. He is survived by his wife of nearly 73 years, Wanda N. Edgecomb of Presque Isle, as well as three sons and a daughter: Robert Edgecomb and his wife Dianne, Frederick Edgecomb and his wife Cynthia, all of Limestone; Mark Edgecomb of Fort Fairfield; Carolyn Brooks and her husband Douglas of Fairfax, VA. Vernon also leaves eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Brian Edgecomb, his wife Amy, and their children Jacob, Kaleb, and Isabella Edgecomb, of Limestone, Christopher Edgecomb, his partner Candace Whitmore, and their son Colton Edgecomb, of Limestone, Elizabeth Bucura, her husband Bogdan, and their children Gretchen, Ian, and Bridget Bucura, of Graz, Austria, Robert B. Edgecomb, his partner Sheena Page, and their son Henry Edgecomb of Limestone, Misty Edgecomb, her husband Caleb Raynor and their son Theodore Raynor, of Las Vegas, NV, Sean Edgecomb and his husband Cullan Riley of Gales Ferry, CT, Andrew Aldwell of Seattle, WA, and Alan Aldwell and his partner Rachel Uehaur of Brooklyn, NY, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions on gatherings, calling hours will be private. A graveside service will be conducted in 2021 at the Advent Cemetery, Limestone.
