FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – George P. Whitmore Sr., 71, husband of Pauline L. (Duguay) Whitmore, passed away Wednesday afternoon, January 1, 2020 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born October 6, 1948 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Harold L. Sr. and Annie B. (Davenport) Whitmore.

He attended local schools, was married to Pauline L. Duguay on December 12, 1975, and was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic for several area businesses including Soderberg Construction, Caribou, Ed Michaud Trucking, Presque Isle, Smith Farms, and other area farmers over the years. George enjoyed 4 wheeling, fishing, and his weekly coffee visits with his friend Bill.

In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by one brother, Harold Whitmore Jr.; one sister, Kathleen Logsdon. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pauline L. Whitmore of Fort Fairfield; two sons and daughters-in-law, George P. Jr. and Danielle Whitmore of Caribou, Samuel and Aimee Whitmore of Corinna; one daughter, Kim McDougall of Bangor; eight grandchildren, Chelsea Whitmore, Cassandra McDougall, both of Waterville, Chase and Haylee McDougall, both of Bangor, Tyler Caron, George D. Whitmore, both of Caribou, Samuel G. Whitmore and Shawn G. Whitmore, both of Corinna; two great grandchildren, Avery and MacKenzie, both of Waterville. He also leaves behind one brother-in-law, Charles Logsdon of Lenoir City, TN; one sister-in-law, Judy Whitmore of Florida.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday July 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Green Ridge Cemetery, Caribou with Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Whitmore to the Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross Street, Presque Isle, Maine 04769.
