Presque Isle – Delores Van Scooter, 84, wife of Albert Van Scooter, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022 at Maine Medical Center, Portland. She was born to Robert and Marie (Wright) Conant on March 21, 1939 in Fort Fairfield.

Delores was a 1957 graduate of the Caribou High School; a graduate of the University of Texas and the University of Washington Master Program. After being a military spouse and careers in banking and criminal justice, Delores returned home to Aroostook County where she spent the remainder of her career as a mental health counselor at the Aroostook Mental Health Service. Delores was active in the Senior Citizens Center in Presque Isle and especially enjoyed the live music and dancing on Wednesdays. She was a doting aunt to six nieces and three nephews; and a great aunt to six great nieces and three great nephews.

Delores is survived by her husband Albert Van Scooter; one daughter, Jamie Kemper, both of Presque Isle; one brother Robert Conant and his wife Linda of York, PA; one sister, Diane Peters and her husband Thomas.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Norbeck Dar; a son, Michael Norbeck; a husband, David Kemper; a sister, Sally Thibodeau; a brother-in-law, Ronald Thibodeau of Presque Isle. Delores was also predeceased by Frederick Norbeck, the father of her two children.

Friends may call Monday, May 9, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou with Rev. George McLaughlin officiating. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Delores to the Maine Down Syndrome Network, P.O. Box 705, Windham, Maine 04062. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
