Fort Fairfield – Darryl E. “Butch” Doughty Sr., 80, husband of Edith M. (Summerson) Doughty, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday evening, March 22, 2022 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a period of declining health. He was born May 19, 1941 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Doris (Hansen) Doughty.

Butch was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1960 and was married to Edith M. Summerson on May 25, 1963. He had been employed by several area potato farmers, most especially Nightingale Farms, Fort Fairfield, where he worked for over twenty years. He later became employed by McGillan Inc., Fort Fairfield as a truck driver, a position he held for twenty-seven years until his retirement in 2015. Butch attended the Family Christian Center in Presque Isle. He greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and Sunday country rides throughout Aroostook County with his wife Edith. Butch was always excited to spend time with his family, especially his sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Butch was predeceased by two brothers, Linwood and Gary Doughty; one sister, Patricia Mahn. He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty-nine years, Edith M. Doughty of Fort Fairfield; three sons and daughters-in-law, Darryl E. Jr. and Gail Doughty, David and Brenda Doughty, Dennis and Samantha Doughty, all of Fort Fairfield; three sisters, Janet Owens, Virginia Cote and Joanne Wilcox, all of Fort Fairfield; seven grandchildren, Ranier Henderson of Presque Isle, Nathaniel Doughty of Limestone, Brandon Doughty and his wife Robin of Mapleton, Ashlee Doughty of Limestone, Devon Doughty and his companion Joshua Paige of Brewer, Emma Doughty of Fort Fairfield, Krissy Chasse of Presque Isle; four great grandchildren, Blaze, Teagen, Greyson and Persephone; sister-in-laws, Ethel Reno of Kalamazoo, MI, Mildred Maxim of Palm Coast, FL, Gladys Donovan of Fort Fairfield: several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Gail Bellamy officiating. Interment will take place later in the spring at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Doughty to the Fort Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department, 18 Community Center Drive, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742.
