Fort Fairfield – Melvin N. Browning, 83, passed away Monday morning, January 17, 2022 at a Caribou healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born December 1, 1938 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Clayton and Vesta (Wiley) Browning.
He attended Fort Fairfield schools and had been employed by the Riverside Cemetery Corporation, Fort Fairfield, Potato Service, Presque Isle, and retired from Pollack Potato Company, Fort Fairfield in 1988. Melvin loved watching old movies and cherished his family.
In addition to his parents, Melvin was predeceased by one brother, Kenneth Browning; one sister, Gloria Mowbray.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Argraves) Browning of Fort Fairfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda L. and Keith Hitchcock of Limestone; one brother and sister-in-law, Winston and Linda Browning of Presque Isle; one sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Louis Little of Fort Fairfield; one grandson, Christopher Hitchcock of Arizona; one great granddaughter, Karmon Hitchcock of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted later in the spring at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield and will be announced by the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
