Fort Fairfield – Emily L. Tarbox, 76, wife of the late Cary I. Tarbox, passed away Wednesday evening, January 12, 2022 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. She was born November 27, 1945 in Andover, New Brunswick, the daughter of Emery and Ferne G. (Pelkey) Wright.

She attended Grand Falls, New Brunswick schools, continued her education attending cosmetology school, and enjoyed a twenty-five year career as owner and operator of Emily’s Hair Boutique in Fort Fairfield. Emily also performed hairdressing for the Dorsey Funeral Home, later the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home for many years. Emily was married to Cary I. Tarbox on July 15, 1966 and was a member of the Fort Fairfield United Pentecostal Church. She was a life member of the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187 Ladies Auxiliary, Fort Fairfield and a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Smart-Ricker Chapter No. 10, Presque Isle.

Emily was predeceased by her husband, Cary I. Tarbox on April 4, 1996; her father, Emery Wright; her mother, Ferne G. (Pelkey) Caldwell; stepfather, Emery L. “Blaise” Caldwell.

She is survived by two sons, Stephen E. Tarbox of Portland, Kevin R. Tarbox of Fort Fairfield; six grandchildren, Dustin Tarbox of Fort Fairfield, Tyler Tarbox of Bangor, Toria Tarbox, Alanah Tarbox, Elijah Tarbox, all of Presque Isle, Zackery Tarbox of Fort Fairfield; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Alta and Roger Anderson of Boynton Beach, FL, Avis and David Clark of Crystal River, FL, Judith and Michael Findlen of Lecanto, FL; three great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Emily will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.

Friends may call Tuesday January 18, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ronald Doughty officiating. Spring interment will take place at Union Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Tarbox to the United Pentecostal Church, 37 Currier Road, Fort Fairfield, Maine 04742. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
