LIMESTONE

Limestone – Neil A. Gumprecht, 74, husband of Mary L. (Cometto) Gumprecht, passed away Sunday evening, November 21, 2021 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. He was born April 1, 1947 in Portland, the son of Richard M. and Mary M. (Maguire) Gumprecht.

He was a graduate of the Kennebunk High School, Class of 1965. He worked for a period of time at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut, went on to serve his country with the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1987, and was stationed in Alaska, Kingsley Field Air Force Base, OR, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Mt. Hebo Air Force Base, OR, and was honorably discharged from Loring Air Force Base on January 1, 1987, as a Tech Sergeant Security Supervisor. Following his military career, Neil worked at the Ames Department Store in Caribou, the Caribou Rite Aid and more recently as a greeter at the Presque Isle Wal Mart. He was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone and was a 4th degree member of the Limestone Knights of Columbus Charter No 2851. Neil loved old movies, cartoons and especially his cat “Charlie”.

He was predeceased by his father, Richard M. Gumprecht; and his mother, Mary M. Davis. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mary L. Gumprecht of Limestone; four sons, John Roy of Kennebunk, Mark Gumprecht and his wife Kelly of Melbourne, FL, Anthony Gumprecht and his wife Kelly of Wales, ME, Eric Gumprecht of Limestone; one daughter, Jennifer Lopez of Naples, FL; five grandchildren, Nicholas Gumprecht of Presque Isle, Andrew Gumprecht of Brewer, Joshua Gumprecht, Ryan Gumprecht, and Bryce Gumprecht, all of Melbourne, FL; great grandson, Stanley Gumprecht of Presque Isle; two step grandchildren, Paige Haley of Colorado and Kasey Haley of New Sweden.

Friends may call Tuesday November 30, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield where a memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. . Interment with military honors will take place after the service at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 37 Lombard Road, Caribou.
