Caswell, Maine - Archie Lee Allen Sr., went on to join his beloved wife Joyce, on Sunday June 6, 2021. Archie was born on August 17 1933 in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, to William Arch Allen and Mollie (Collier) Allen. One of six Allen children.

He joined the United States Army in 1950, serving with the 14th Infantry, 9th Battalion. As a Sherman tank driver, he served in the Korean campaign and received many commendations, including the combat infantry badge, for exceptional service under fire. The badge was not typically awarded to tank crews. He also received a Presidential unit citation and good conduct medal. After discharge from the army in 1954, he tried a few occupations and decided to return to what he loved, military service. In 1955, he enlisted in the Air Force. In 1957, while stationed at Loring AFB, he met and married the love of his life, Marie “Joyce” Beaulieu. He made a life and career of the Air Force. Retiring in 1975, as a Master Sergeant (MSgt) with many commendations.

The Allen's built on land behind his favorite base, Loring. After leaving the Air Force, he worked at the base service station, RT French’s, and his favorite job, driving a potato truck. He truly loved Northern Maine and before his wife's illness, he was an avid camper, hunter, and fisherman.

Archie was predeceased by his wife Joyce, (2009) and his son Archie “Lee” Allen Jr. (2016).

He is survived by his daughter Patty Olson and husband Jes, of Fort Fairfield; A grandson, Chris Stevenson of Cloquet, MN; A great-granddaughter, Destany of Carlton, MN; and 1 great-great grandson. He is also survived by his brother, Jimmy and his partner Lucy of Speedwell, TN; as well as many nieces and nephews.

At Archie's request, there will be no services. Interment will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Archie to the charity or organization of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gibersondorseyfuneralhome.com .
