Fort Fairfield – Glenna M. Deabay, 81, wife of the late Omar A. Deabay, passed away Saturday evening, May 1, 2021 at the Presque Isle Aroostook House of Comfort, following a period of declining health. She was born August 2, 1939 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Walter and Inez (Everett) McMann.

She was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield and was married to Omar A. Deabay on December 27, 1954. Glenna had been employed seasonally by several area farm families, where she cooked, cleaned house and worked on the farm. Glenna was a gifted seamstress and could make or repair most anything, even as her eyesight was failing. She also crafted wreaths, ornaments and various other crafts, many of which are still being enjoyed by area families today.

In addition to her parents, Glenna was predeceased by her husband Omar on November 14, 2008; two infant daughters, Bonnie and Linda Deabay; two brothers, Emery and Wallace McMann; six sisters, Madeline Driscoll, Viola Gambel, Lucy Smith, Ruby “Ellen” Turner, Dorothy Robinson, Bessie Gagnon, Willadena Chambers.

She is survived by three sons, Stephen O. Deabay and his wife Dianne of Fort Fairfield, Gary W. Deabay and his wife Elizabeth of Haverhill, MA, Randy P. Deabay of Austin, TX; seven grandchildren, Brad Deabay of Brewer, Brock Deabay and his wife Hila of Bangor, Keri-Anne Deabay, Taniesha Deabay, both of Brewer, Eli Deabay currently stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, Kyle Deabay and Sean Deabay, both of Haverhill, MA; two great granddaughters, Amira and Ella Deabay; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, May 7, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where a service to celebrate Glenna’s life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Please be advised that a facemask is required, and the amount of guest in the facility at one time is limited. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s of the Angels Catholic Cemetery, Andover, New Brunswick, at a later date. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Glenna to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
