Caswell & Johnston, IA – Hobart William Finnemore (Bill/Heben), 86, passed away Friday afternoon, March 26, 2021 at the Maine Veterans Home, Caribou, following a period of declining health. He was born July 1, 1934 in Caswell, the son of Floyd and Mattie (Gould) Finnemore.

He was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a communications specialist from 1957 to 1959. Heben married Roberta Adams on December 19, 1959. After his military service, Heben worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a surveyor, soil specialist, and agriculture researcher in Presque Isle. Later, the family moved to Iowa where he started and ran a moving business for many years. Heben’s faith was central to his life, and he was baptized and grew up in the Caswell Methodist Church.

In adulthood, he preached in Methodist Churches, later becoming ordained in the Assembly of Spiritual Healers and Earth Stewards International Congregation. He changed his name to Heben, as it means “Bringer of Light”. Heben enjoyed spiritual work and dowsing, writing many books on spiritual matters, traveling throughout the country to hold lectures and workshops and providing spiritual counseling.

He is survived by his brother, Robert Finnemore of Carterville, GA; sisters, Nancy McLaughlin of Fort Fairfield, Priscilla Nichols of Northport, FL; daughter, Mary Finnemore and her husband Eric Good; and granddaughters, Rose and Ryan Reischl, all of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Caribou Maine Veterans Home for their compassion and genuine care, especially during this pandemic.

A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at a later date at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou.
