FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Mary M. West, 87, wife of the late Philip G. West, passed away Friday evening, July 17, 2020 at a Presque Isle hospice facility, following an extended illness. She was born July 6, 1933 in St. Francis, the daughter of Isaac V. and Elsie (Brownell) Hafford.

Mary attended St. Francis and Fort Kent schools and was married to Philip G. West on March 6, 1951. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband Philip on February 5, 1995; one son-in-law, Robert H. Chasse; two brothers, Dana and Vincent Hafford; five sisters, Christina York, Ann Lovely, Rose Ackers, Viola Walker and Mona O’Neal. She is survived by three sons, Philip G. West II, Paul West, both of Fort Fairfield, Everett West and his wife Jaime of Huntingtown, MD; one daughter, Patricia W. Chasse of Fort Fairfield; two sisters, Ella Leighton and Ida Beaulieu, both of Fort Fairfield; seven grandchildren, Angela Chasse of Mars Hill, Bobbi Jo Chasse of Westfield, Philip Chasse of Caribou, Melissa Davis and her husband J.R. of Lewiston, Philip West III and his fiancé Stephanie Klinger of Caribou, Jaelyn and Landon West, both of Huntingtown, MD; fourteen great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. West to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, Maine 04086.
