CARIBOU

Caribou – Wilhelmena M. “Mena” Brewster, 91, wife of the late Wilbur R. Brewster, passed away Saturday morning, June 20, 2020 at a Caribou nursing facility, following a period of declining health. She was born August 14, 1928 in Washburn, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Prue) LaBelle.

She attended Washburn schools and was a graduate of the Caribou High School, Class of 1945 and was married to Wilbur R. Brewster on January 25, 1947. Mena was a lifelong communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Caribou and had been employed by Birdseye Foods, American Kitchen Foods and McCain Foods. Mena enjoyed gardening, canning and crocheting, and loved listening to and singing country-gospel music, even through her final days.

In addition to her parents, Mena was predeceased by her husband Wilbur on June 13, 2003; four brothers, Joseph, Fred, Wilson and Jack LaBelle; five sisters, Mary Belanger, Eva Hanson, Pauline Palmer, Doris Dube, and Mabel Stephens. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy L. and Charles Goff of Fort Fairfield; three grandsons, Brian C. Goff and his fiancé Sandy Kinney of Caribou, Timothy R. Goff and his wife Amy of Fort Fairfield, Daniel J. Goff of Virginia; two great grandchildren, Amelia and Olivia Goff, both of Fort Fairfield; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday, June 26, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 34 Vaughn Street, Caribou. Interment will follow at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou.

The Brewster family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the Caribou Maine Veterans Home for the wonderful care given to Mena during her stay there.
