From an online gaming friend

I knew Wylee as a fellow gamer online, so incoming gaming jargon.

In Final Fantasy XIV, I joined the same free company as Wylee (the name I know him as) last year. He tended to play later than me so I mostly saw his character hanging out on the (virtual) lawn, just chatting and hanging out while I was winding down. It was only recently that I started playing with him more.

You'll hear time and again from his fellow gaming friends how kind and generous he was as a person and a player. After playing a silly hide-and-seek game with him around Easter, he surprised me with a gift of a rare mount, which completely blew me away. He was also among the group that got me to play Animal Crossing New Horizons. His was the first Island I ever visited; he invited me to pick the fruit varieties he had on his Island as I was just getting started. We became Animal Crossing friends at that point, and I requested a "best friends" status a while later when I figured out how. It's still pending, and I'll always remember him every time I look at my friends list.

I wish I'd had more time to get to know him. What an incredible person and friend.
