DAWN M. FINDLEN
FORT FAIRFIELD
Fort Fairfield – Dawn M. Findlen, 90, wife of the late William L. “Bill” Findlen, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, January 13, 2020 at her Fort Fairfield home. She was born July 6, 1929 in Presque Isle, the daughter of Cleveland and Verna (Bishop) Hodgkins.
She was a graduated of the Presque Isle High School and furthered her education at the University of Maine at Orono, receiving a B.S. degree and later earned her Masters Degree in Counseling from the Gorham Teachers College. Earlier in her career, Dawn worked as a teacher with the Caribou School System, and enjoyed a long career as a Guidance Councilor at the Presque Isle High School. Dawn was a longtime member of the Fort Fairfield St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
In addition to her parents, Dawn was predeceased by her husband Bill; one son, David M. Findlen; two brothers, Dean and Anson Hodgkins; an adopted brother, Sam Delano. She is survived by three sons, Daniel Findlen of Fort Fairfield, Jeffrey Findlen and his wife Trudi of Mapleton, Scott Findlen and his wife Joyce of New Sweden; four grandchildren, Matthew Findlen and his companion Angie Del-Llano of Miami, FL, Paige Briggs and her husband Wilson of Saco, Caleb and Austin Findlen, both of New Sweden; one great grandson, Wilson Briggs of Saco; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Saturday January 25, 2020 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 170 Main Street, Fort Fairfield where a Celebration of Dawn’s life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Kevin Kinsey officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service in the church reception area. Interment will take place at a later date at the Green Ridge Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Findlen to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, c/o Gloria Towle, 645 Houlton Road, Easton, Maine 04740. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
