Fort Fairfield – David H. Harpine III, 74, died unexpectedly Monday morning, January 6, 2020, at his Fort Fairfield home. He was born September 7, 1945 in Mars Hill, the son of David H. II and Beatrice (Smith) Harpine.

He graduated from Augusta Military Academy in Virginia and attended the University of Maine. He served with the United States Marines during the Vietnam War and was a pilot at Aero Aviation. He also did construction contracting in the Portland area, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was married to Carol (Carmichael) Harpine on July 1, 1971.

Surviving in addition to his mother, Beatrice of Madawaska Lake, are his daughter, Mackenzie Harpine of Boston; former wife, Carol Harpine of Saco; special friend, Glenda Barnes of Fort Fairfield; a special friend and sister-in-law, Pamela Harpine of Madawaska Lake; nieces; a nephew; and a cadre of outdoor sports friends. David was predeceased by his father; and his brother, Roger.

Spring interment with military honors will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou, to be announced by the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
