Fort Fairfield & Presque Isle – Theresa L. Ashfield, 91, wife of the late Robert L. Ashfield, passed away Monday evening, October 7, 2019 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. She was born December 3, 1927 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Edward and Irene (Boulier) LaPointe.

Theresa was married to Robert L. Ashfield on August 29, 1960 and was a lifelong communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. Theresa attended Fort Fairfield schools, was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking and baking, and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ashfield was predeceased by her husband Robert on February 21, 2019: one daughter, Sue Ellen Ashfield; one brother, Sonny LaPointe; three sisters, Earlene McKenney, Dawn Shaw, Irene Thorpe. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Ashfield of Fort Fairfield, Chris and Sue Ashfield of Toms River, NJ; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Larry Jenkins of Fort Fairfield; five grandchildren and spouses, Samantha and Charles Ford of Stanley, NC, Michael Sherwood of Sanford, Tori Rogers of Toms River, NJ, Amanda and George Knox, Matthew Jenkins, all of Fort Fairfield; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Friday October 11, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday October 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Interment will take place at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held following the interment at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Ashfield to Central Aroostook Humane Society, 26 Cross Street, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Envelopes will be available at funeral home and church.
