LIMESTONE

Limestone – Philip W. “Wimp” OBar, 84, husband of Gloria B. (Barnes) OBar, passed away Sunday morning, September 29, 2019 at a Caribou nursing facility, following an extended illness. He was born October 14, 1934 in Limestone, the son of Warren and Almeda (Martin) OBar.

He attended Limestone schools and went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. Following his military discharge, Philip worked with his father building many houses in the Limestone and Caswell area. He later became a potato farmer for a number of years and also enjoyed a long career as a plumber prior to his retirement. He was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone, and was a member of the American Legion OBar-Phair Post, Limestone.

In addition to his parents, Philip was predeceased by one sister, Yvonne OBar Hynes. He is survived by his wife Gloria of Limestone; five stepsons, James Cote and his wife Carla, Randy Cote, all of Limestone, Kirk Cote and his wife Lisa, Ronnie Cote and his wife Brenda, all of Connor, Michael Cote of Glenburn; two stepdaughters, Kathy Madore of Morrisville, NY, Carlene LeGassey and her husband Peter of Tolland, CT; two brothers, Emile OBar of Colorado, Hobert OBar of Iowa; two sisters, LuAnn OBar Shaw of Caswell and Englewood, FL, Connie OBar Connors of Englewood, FL; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday October 5, 2019 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, 100 Main Street, Limestone. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will follow at the home of Gloria OBar, 414 Mill Road, Limestone. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. OBar to the Maine Veterans Home, 163 Van Buren Road, Caribou, Maine 04736. Envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church.
