Obituary for Christopher J. Govosdian

CHRISTOPHER J. GOVOSDIAN
FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Christopher J. Govosdian, 72, husband of Frances R. (Ditizio) Govosdian, passed away Friday evening, August 16, 2019 at a Presque Isle hospice facility, following an extended illness. He was born June 24, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Joseph and Muriel F. (Coudrey) Govosdian.

He was a graduate of the Lincoln High School, Philadelphia, PA in 1965 and went on to serve his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War earning a Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He had been employed by the United States Postal Service and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Authority for a number of years. He also owned and operated a Ford Model A Parts business in Pennsylvania as well as a salvage and hauling business. Christopher enjoyed classic cars, baseball, football, history and old movies.

He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife Fran of Fort Fairfield; one son, Nicholas Govosdian of Pennsylvania; one daughter Elizabeth Govosdian of Pennsylvania; two stepsons William Maguire and his companion Kristen Ream of Yardley, PA, Matthew Maguire of St. Petersburg, FL; a stepdaughter, Frances Maguire of Fort Fairfield; one brother, Joseph Govosdian of Mountaintop, PA; four grandchildren, Summer, Julia, Matthew and Phoenix. Cousins and special friends, Ann and John Croitor of Tuscan, AZ, Steve and Kim Craiter of Northport, FL, John Beirle of Black Mountain, SC; several nieces and nephews.

Christopher’s family wishes to extend their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff of the Aroostook House of Comfort for the wonderful care he received during his stay there.

A graveside service will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Govosdian to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
