Fort Fairfield – Melody L. Sturgeon, 54, passed away Wednesday evening July 31, 2019 at a Presque Isle hospice facility, following a brief illness. She was born May 15, 1965 in Presque Isle, the daughter of John D. “Jack” Jr. and Veronica (Nadeau) Churchill.

She was a graduate of the Washburn High School, Class of 1983, and had been employed by several area businesses, most recently Sitel, Caribou. Melody was a member of the Presque Isle Family Christian Center.

She was predeceased by her father, Jack Churchill; two brothers, Andrew and Jacob Churchill. She is survived by her mother and step-father, Veronica and Carl Farley of Castle Hill; former husband and dear friend, Roy Sturgeon of Fort Fairfield; one son, Benjamin Sturgeon of Fort Fairfield and his companion Haley Davis; one daughter, Linda Sturgeon and her companion Michael Jamieson of Limestone; two sisters, Rev. Christie Corey and her husband Eric of Littleton, Cindy Humphrey and her husband Matthew of Newburn, NC; one granddaughter, Olivia Jamieson of Limestone; sister-in-law and dear friend, Arlene MacDougal of Fort Fairfield; friend and caregiver, Bonnie Milliard of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday August 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield with Pastor Gail Bellamy officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service at the Family Christian Center, 112 Caribou Road, Presque Isle. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Melody to the Family Christian Center Benevolence Fund, P.O. Box 632, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
