Obituary for Orel Dean Wiggins

PRESQUE ISLE

Presque Isle – Orel Dean Wiggins, 84, husband of Carmen L. (Anderson) Wiggins, passed away Saturday morning, April 13, 2019 at a Presque Isle hospice facility, following an extended illness. He was born July 4, 1934 in Listerville, New Brunswick, the son of James and Ruby (DeMerchant) Wiggins.

Dean attended school in Listerville, NB and was a graduate of the Mars Hill High School, Class of 1954. He served his country with the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 attaining the rank of Private 1st Class. Dean was married to Carmen L. Anderson on August 3, 1957, and enjoyed a lengthy career with the New England Telephone Company. He later served as a ranger on the Allagash Waterway, stationed at Lock Dam, Chamberlain Lake. Dean greatly enjoyed the outdoors and nature.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wiggins was predeceased by one brother, James Wiggins. He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Carmen of Presque Isle; two daughters, Carrie Wiggins and her husband Mike Allen, Lori Samiya and her husband Donald, all of Presque Isle; one brother and sister-in-law, Arlington and Jean Wiggins of Mars Hill; two sisters, Anna Mae Bradford of Houlton, Pamela Glidden of Bangor; three grandchildren and spouses, Renee and John Landry of Patten, Kyle Allen of Pikesville, NC, Chelsea and Mark Cyr of Chapman; three great grandchildren, Gracie and Georgia Theriault of Patten, and Ruby Cyr of Chapman; several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service with military honors will be conducted later in the spring at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou. Those who wish may contribute in Dean’s memory to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O. Box 867, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
