Obituary for Robert A. "Bob" Robinson

Robert A. "Bob" Robinson
ROBERT “BOB” A. ROBINSON
FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – Robert Arnold “Bob” Robinson, 86, husband of Rose Marie “Dede” Robinson, passed on from this world Friday morning March 22, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 25, 1932 in Fort Fairfield, he was the son of the late Arnold L. and Pearl E. (Trask) Robinson.

Bob grew up on a potato farm with his two older sisters, graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in 1950, and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He returned to the farm to work with his Dad, starting an egg business, and in 1960 was married Rose Marie “Dede” McCullough, the love of his life. He settled on a long career as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. His tall frame, athletic stride, and easy manner were a welcome sight for all the people and pets on his route. After retiring in 1992, he devoted more of his time and talents to the St. Denis Catholic Church, the Fort Fairfield Knights of Columbus, and the Fort Fairfield Housing Authority. Bob enjoyed fishing, jogging, biking, snowmobiling, traveling, reading, Liam Neeson movies, listening to blues, and spending time with friends and family. Known variously to many as Bob, Dad, Grampy, or Poppy, he approached life with dry humor, understated courage, and deep faith. Even as he battled many health issues later in life, he provided love, support, and wisdom to all lucky enough to know him.

Bob was predeceased by his parents; and one sister, Henrietta Armstrong. He is survived by Rose Marie, his loving wife of 59 years, of Fort Fairfield; his sister, Rheta Southard of New York State; son Michael, his wife Sandy and their children Patrick, Alex, Sydney and Holly, all of Wells, son Stephen and his son Aidan of Brownfield, son Peter, his wife Jo and their children William, Nicholas, and Daniel of Stonington, CT; nieces Marilyn Millard and Nancy Nelson, both of New York State; and friends to numerous to list.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday March 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council No. 1753, 260 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. Spring interment will take place at the St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Knights of Columbus, Council No 1753, P.O. Box 827, Fort Fairfield or the Presque Isle Homeless Shelter, c/o Homeless Services of Aroostook, P.O. Box 1753, Presque Isle, Maine 04769 or www.aroostookhomeless.org .
