LIMESTONE

Limestone – Charles L. Willey, 88, husband of Katherine (Hitchcock) Willey, passed away Monday morning, March 4, 2019 at his Limestone home, following an extended illness. He was born September 30, 1930 in Caribou, the son of Bedford and Violet O. (Gallagher) Willey.

A lifelong resident of Limestone, Charles graduated from Limestone High School in 1948 and was married to Katherine Hitchcock on November 22, 1953. He enjoyed a forty-two year career serving full time with the Maine Army National Guard, Service Battery 1st Battalion 152nd Field Artillery, Caribou Battery until his retirement on September 22, 1990. Charles was a “Jack of All Trades”. He loved to collect and trade guns, coins, and many other things. He possessed a special love and calling to do family history work during the last fifty years, identifying over 18,000 ancestors and relatives. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Caribou and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Roger Seeley and Donald “Duke” Martin. He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Katherine Willey of Limestone; two daughters, Suzanne Parker and her husband Richard of Newburg, Jennifer Willey of Woods Cross, UT; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Emmaleen and Paul Lynch of Presque Isle, Gloria Martin of Brewer, Jeanette Seeley of Fort Fairfield, Eleanor and Mike Cyr, Gwendolyn and Winston “Bucky” Marshall, all of Cross Lake; four grandchildren, Craig Reimer of Portland, Bryan Reimer of Belfast, Angela Reimer of St. George, Robbie Reimer of Bangor; ten great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Saturday March 9, 2019 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. with Elder Walt Elliot officiating. Interment will take place later in the spring at Webster Cemetery, Limestone. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Willey to the Aroostook House of Comfort, P.O.
