JOHN H. GIBERSON
FORT FAIRFIELD

Fort Fairfield – John H. Giberson, 85, husband of the late Carolyn C. (Burns) Giberson, passed away Wednesday morning, January 2, 2019 at his Fort Fairfield home, following a period of declining health. He was born July 22, 1933 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Willard D. and Dora L. (Corbin) Giberson.

He attended the Strickland Road Country School and was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1951. John served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War and enjoyed a lengthy career as a conductor with the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. John was a dedicated Freemason, receiving his degrees at the former Fort Fairfield Eastern Frontier Masonic Lodge No. 112 AF & AM. He later became affiliated with the Limestone Masonic Lodge No 214 AF & AM where he held several offices, including Worshipful Master in 2001. He received his 50 year service medal at Limestone Lodge on February 10, 2010. John greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family at his camp on Squawpan Lake.

John was predeceased by his parents, Willard D. Giberson and Dora Giberson-Grivois; his wife Carolyn on June 22, 2014; one brother, D. Albert Giberson; one sister, Mary A. Giberson; two nephews, Nate Burns, and H. Scott Giberson; one niece, Diana Giberson Kleefeld. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mark B. and Janet Giberson of Fort Fairfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy L. and Chris Samaroo of Eddington; one brother, Howard Giberson and his companion Mary Whitmore of Fort Fairfield; two sisters, Louise White of Fort Fairfield, Norma Tardy and her husband Lyman “Butch” of Limestone. He also leaves behind his companion and caregiver, June O’Dell of Fort Fairfield; five grandchildren, William Bruton and his wife Kendra of Blue Hill, Amanda Bruton of Eddington, Nicole, Kayla, and Christopher Giberson all of Fort Fairfield; three great grandchildren, Micaiah, Eliezre, and Drea; several nieces and nephews; a special brother-in-law, Robert Burns; a special sister-in-law, Letty and her husband Cliff Boaz, all of Fort Fairfield.

Friends may call Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where a Masonic evening memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by the officers of the Limestone Masonic Lodge No. 214 AF & AM. The funeral service will be conducted Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield. Spring interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory Mr. Giberson to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
