Obituary for Paul B. Griffeth

LIMESTONE

Limestone – Paul B. Griffeth, 67, passed away unexpectedly at his Limestone home Monday October 8, 2018. He was born October 25, 1950 in Fort Fairfield, the youngest son of Franklin and Olive (Russell) Griffeth.

He was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1970, and furthered his education at Ricker College, Caribou, and was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church, Limestone. Paul enjoyed working on the family farm with his father and older brother John while growing up in “the county”. Paul was very proud to be a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam Conflict from 1970 to 1972 stationed in Korea. Paul was employed in various jobs until his return to his love of farming at Griffeth Farms for his brother John and special nephews, John II, Matt, and Steven. Paul’s greatest joy was his family, traveling with his grandchildren, visiting with his four grandchildren in Ohio, fishing, working with wood to create pieces of furniture and crafty items that he envisioned in his creative mind, and attending school and sports events that his grandchildren participated in at Caribou and in Ohio. He will be remembered also a good cook, an avid shopper, a loving and devoted brother, husband, father, and especially in his role of “Grampy Paul”.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by one sister, Linda (Griffeth) Edgecomb; two nephews, Reginald Edgecomb, David Tuck; and one niece, Darci Edgecomb; his father-in-law, Whitfield McLaughlin. Paul is survived by his wife of 48 years, Doreen (McLaughlin) Griffeth of Limestone; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Griffeth and Robert Kahkonan of Dublin, Ohio; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ryan and Jill Griffeth of Caribou, Nicholas Griffeth of Limestone; grandchildren, Ian, Noah, Emma and Quinn Kahkonan of Dublin, Ohio, Logan and Taylor Griffeth of Caribou, Alexander Griffeth of Limestone. Four sisters, and brothers-in-law, Diane Cook, Thalia Jane and Gary Tuck, Priscilla K. and Donn Doughty, Catherine E. and Thomas Kilcollins, all of Fort Fairfield; one brother and sister-in-law, John F. and Rebecca Griffeth of Caribou; his mother-in-law, Blanche McLaughlin of Fredericton, NB, two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Barb McLaughlin of Fredericton, NB, Terry and Joyce Knight of Rhode Island. Paul will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Chip and Janet McGuinness.

Friends may call Friday October 12, 2018 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Limestone United Methodist Church, Main Street, Limestone where a service celebrate Paul’s life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Cheryl Stratton officiating. Military honors will take place at the church following the service. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the service in the church reception area. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Griffeth to C-A-N-C-E-R, P.O. Box 811, Presque Isle, Maine 04769. Envelopes will be available at the church.
