FORT FAIRFIELD & VAN BUREN
Fort Fairfield & Van Buren – Joseph P. Cloney, 55, passed away Saturday afternoon July 21, 2018 at a Presque Isle hospice facility, following an extended illness. He was born January 13, 1963 in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of Roy E. and Edna (Evans) Cloney.
He was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School and served in the United States Army from December 11, 1981 to February 2, 1988. Joseph received several decorations while in the military including; expert sharpshooter, hand grenade marksman, 45 caliber pistol marksman, good conduct medal, Army service medal, Army achievement medal, Overseas service ribbon, and a M.P. diploma. While living in South Carolina, he worked for the State Electrical and Gas Company as a security guard in a nuclear power plant, and worked for seventeen years as an account manager at Sitel, Loring Commerce Center, Limestone.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by three brothers, Arnold, Bruce and Roy Cloney; one sister, Ruth Cloney. He is survived by one daughter, Jamilia Anderson of Jacksonville, NC and her son Landon; one son, Ryan Elgin of Columbia, SC and his son Colton; one brother, Guy Cloney of Presque Isle; one sister and brother-in-law, Nedra and Andy Rebscher of Caribou; several nieces and nephews including a special niece and caregiver Kendra Tracy of Caribou.
In keeping with Joseph’s wishes, there will be no formal services. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
