Fort Fairfield & Presque Isle – Bessie M. Gagnon, 85, passed away Wednesday evening June 13, 2018 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. She was born May 27, 1933 in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Walter H. and Inez M. (Everett) McMann.

Bessie attended local schools and was married to Robert J. Gagnon on February 4, 1949. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield, enjoyed cooking, playing cards and Yatzee, going out to restaurants, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Bessie was predeceased by her husband Robert J. Gagnon; one son, Robert W. Gagnon; one daughter, Nancy M. Gagnon; two brothers, Emery and Wallace McMann; six sisters, Madeline Driscoll, Viola Gamblin, Lucy Sawyer, Dorothy Robinson, Ellen Turner and Willadena Chambers. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David E. and Sharon Gagnon of Fernandina Beach, FL, Jeffrey A. Sr. and Lori Gagnon of Presque Isle; one sister, Glenna Deabay of Fort Fairfield; four grandchildren, Heather Carr of Lisbon, Jeffrey A. Gagnon Jr. of Saco, Jeremy Gagnon of Naugatuck, CT, Andrew Gagnon of Aurora, CO; four great great grandchildren, James and Keira Carr both of Lisbon, Brandon and Timothy Gagnon both of Naugatuck, CT; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2018 at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where the funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.. Interment will take place at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield following the interment service. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Gagnon to the American Heart / American Stoke Foundation, Founders Affiliate, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
