Fort Fairfield – Barbara N. Fields, 93, wife of the late Lee S. Fields, Sr., passed away Friday evening, April 6, 2018 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following an extended illness. She was born January 27, 1925 in Waldoboro, the daughter of Frank W. and Anne C. (Webb) Nadeau.

She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1942 and went on to further her education at Husson College, Bangor where she received an associates degree in business. Barbara was married to Lee S. Fields Sr. on June 20, 1946 and had been employed by Roberts-Foss Insurance, Fort Fairfield for several years. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fort Fairfield, where she was past treasurer of the vestry, and past president of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Women. She was also a member and past president of the Aroostook Valley Country Club, Fort Fairfield, and the Ladies Division of the Aroostook Valley Country Club where she held various positions. She also was a past member of the Upper St. John Valley Seniors Ladies Golf Association, a past member of the Fort Fairfield Community General Hospital Guild, a member of the Fort Fairfield Alumni Association, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was also an avid bridge player and a past member of the Presque Isle Ladies Afternoon Bowling League.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband Lee on February 16, 1988; one brother, Frank W. Nadeau Jr.; one sister, Tomi Rafford. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lee Scott Jr. and Priscilla Fields; one daughter, Sharon F. Dorsey, all of Fort Fairfield; five grandchildren, Elizabeth “Beth” Dorsey Michaud and her companion Terry Sawyer of Fort Fairfield, Carolyn Dorsey, of Long Lake, Lee Scott “Scotty” Fields III and his wife Sherry of Connecticut, Stephanie Fields Beaulieu and her husband Dale of Fort Fairfield, Stephen Fields and his wife Tammy of Hampden; four great grandchildren, Ryan Dorsey and his companion Shaena of Presque Isle, Liza Michaud of Fort Fairfield, Noah Fields of Connecticut, Sarah Beaulieu of Fort Fairfield; one great great grandson, Aiden Stephen Dorsey of Presque Isle. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews; and her favorite son-in-law and family friend, Stephen P. Dorsey of Fort Fairfield.

Friends may call Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 170 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with Rev. Kevin Kinsey officiating. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held in the church reception area following the service. Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Fields to the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, 383 US Route One, Suite 2C, Scarborough, Maine 04074.
