Limestone – Norman J. Johndro, 79, husband of Joyce G. (King) Johndro, passed away Saturday evening, October 21, 2017 at a Presque Isle healthcare facility, following a brief illness. He was born February 7, 1938 in Limestone, the son of Alex and Alphonsie (Michaud) Johndro.

He attended Limestone schools and was a communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, Limestone. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War, earning the rank of Airman Third Class. Norman was married to Joyce G. King on July 29, 1967 and had been employed by the U.S. Civil Service as a painter at the Loring Air Force Base for thirty years. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council Number 2851, Limestone, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Smart Ricker Chapter 10, Presque Isle, and the Korean War Veterans Chapter 292, Presque Isle.

In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by one daughter, Tammy Marie Johndro in 1972; four brothers, Philip, Edward, Patrick and David Johndro. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Joyce G. Johndro of Limestone; one son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Kelly Johndro of Limestone; one daughter, Bonnie Johnson of Caribou; five sisters, Hazel McIver of Hookset, NH, Connie Foster and her husband Edward, Susie Hanscomb, all of South Carolina, Annette Pelletier of Limestone, Patricia Wood of Caribou; one granddaughter, Tammy Peckham and her husband Adam; one great granddaughter, Brooklin Donna Peckham, all of Caswell; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Friends may call Wednesday October 25, 2017 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home. 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday October 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Louis Catholic Church, 100 Main Street, Limestone with Fr. David Raymond celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will follow in the parish reception area. Interment with military honors will take place Friday October 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Limestone. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Johndro to the Disabled American Veterans, Smart Ricker Chapter 10, P.O. Box 344, Bridgewater, ME 04735.
